PMC Effect: Nigeria operational feasibility and effectiveness of PMC (formerly IPTi)
This study will assess the clinical effectiveness and operational feasibility of perennial malaria chemoprevention (PMC), previously referred to as IPTi, in Nigeria. It aims to generate the necessary evidence to support the intervention’s uptake in the national health policy.
The project has two main objectives:
Evaluate the impact of PMC on key child health outcomes including malaria cases and deaths, hospitalisations, anaemia and safety
Assess the operational feasibility of PMC by determining the cost of introducing PMC in Nigeria, how best to adapt the strategy to optimise impact, and whether high uptake can be achieved.
