Equitable access to healthcare begins with effective implementation that is deeply rooted in community engagement. We focus on identifying solutions that can be scaled, optimised and implemented by locally led teams to ensure programmes are both efficient and effective. Locally led, community-based approaches ensure that health services are tailored to local needs and delivered by trusted individuals who understand the context. When communities are actively involved in the design and delivery of interventions, uptake increases and outcomes improve. This foundation of trust and participation enables successful implementation at scale.

Scaling proven interventions like seasonal malaria chemoprevention strengthens health systems and extends access to services, especially among under-resourced and marginalised populations, as well as those living in remote, hard-to-reach and conflict-affected areas. Alongside scaled solutions, integrated delivery models provide additional opportunities to broaden impact by expanding coverage and building resilience within health systems. When delivery is inclusive, adaptive and locally driven, health outcomes improve — and lives are saved.

Locally led approaches

Locally led approaches are at the heart of Malaria Consortium’s work. By engaging communities and other non-governmental organisations in the design, delivery and monitoring of health services, we ensure interventions are trusted and adaptive, tailored to local contexts and built to last.

See how locally driven approaches and social and behaviour change interventions are shaping more sustainable healthcare and helping us reach underserved communities.

Implementation at scale

Scaling up proven health interventions improves equitable access to healthcare, achieving lasting impact. We work with governments to locally adapt and implement evidence-based solutions at scale — strengthening systems to reach more people and improve health outcomes.

Our SMC programme

Malaria Consortium is a leading implementer of seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), supporting national malaria programmes in multiple countries. We continue to pioneer SMC research that strengthens the quality and effectiveness of SMC delivery, and defines the future of the intervention.

Integrated delivery models

Integrated approaches have the power to transform community health systems. Using established platforms to deliver additional health services — where it makes sense to do so — can bridge the gap between communities and life-saving healthcare.

Find out how we’re integrating health interventions into existing, trusted health delivery platforms.
