Sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine resistance study

Published:

Resources: Project brief

Malaria Consortium is strengthening the monitoring of sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine resistance markers in the malaria parasite to inform the scale-up of perennial malaria chemoprevention.

The goal of this project is to strengthen in-country capacity for assessing the impact of genetic markers of SP resistance in the malaria parasite. Following implementation of PMC in Osun state, Nigeria, the frequency of resistance markers in the malaria
parasite will be assessed in the study population of children 2‒18 months.
