Adaeze Aidenagbon

Project Director, Nigeria

Adaeze currently serves as the Project Director for the Global Fund Malaria Project at Malaria Consortium in Nigeria. She has over a decade of experience in the management of large-scale malaria interventions and has expertise in project management, mass campaigns, advocacy and communications.

Albertino Zunza

Project Manager (SMC), Mozambique

Albertino is the Project Manager of Malaria Consortium's seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) programme in Mozambique. He has carried out research activities within public health in Mozambique in the government sector and for non-governmental organisations and is currently studying for a master's in Tropical Medicine and Global Health.

Angharad (Ani) Steele

Research Coordinator, UK

As a Research Coordinator at Malaria Consortium, Ani supports a range of pneumonia and seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC)-related research projects in Ethiopia, Togo and Chad. Prior to joining the organisation, she worked on a range of global health evaluations, utilising her master's in Public Health from Imperial College London.

Anthony Nuwa 

Senior Country Technical Coordinator, Uganda

As Malaria Consortium's Senior Country Technical Coordinator in Uganda, Anthony provides technical support and leadership to the country programmes. He has over 20 years' experience as a medical doctor and expertise in health services research, M&E and operational research on malaria prevention, diagnostics and case management.

Cheick Compaore

Country Technical Coordinator, Burkina Faso

Cheick is the Country Technical Coordinator for Malaria Consortium in Burkina Faso where he provides technical oversight for all country programmes and research projects. He is a public health specialist with a particular interest in epidemiology and health programme management for the protection and well-being of the population in the country.

Dr Chuks Nnaji

Senior Epidemiologist, UK

Chuks is a Senior Epidemiologist at Malaria Consortium where he leads the M&E portfolio of the seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) programme. He also provides technical support to global and country teams on epidemiological and quantitative research methods.

Craig Bonnington

Senior Technical Advisor (SMC), UK

Craig is the technical lead for Malaria Consortium's seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) programme with a particular focus on the future of SMC, exploring new approaches and models. He leads on antimalarial drug resistance and malaria parasite genomics and provides technical support for malaria control in humanitarian settings and elimination contexts.

Erica Viganó

Research Specialist, UK

As a Research Specialist at Malaria Consortium, Erica closely collaborates with research and technical staff across a range of geographies (Chad, Uganda, Nigeria) on study design, protocols and tools development, study implementation, analysis, and results write-up, mostly focusing on qualitative studies and seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) research. Erica has a multi-disciplinary social sciences background.

Francis Okot

Research Coordinator, South Sudan

Francis is a Research Coordinator at Malaria Consortium in South Sudan where he specialises in medical microbiology, public health, data analysis and management. He has more than a decade of experience in conducting health sciences research and teaching.

Geofrey Beinomugisha

M&E Specialist, Uganda

As a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at Malaria Consortium Uganda, Geofrey delivers research outputs, study protocol designs, data collection materials, and data analyses and reporting. Over the past five years in this role, he has guided the M&E function of projects aimed at supporting and strengthening the malaria response in northern Uganda.

Hannah Edwards

Senior Technical Advisor (SME)

Hannah is a Senior Technical Advisor for Malaria Consortium in Surveillance and Response. During her PhD she studied genomic surveillance, transmission modelling and molecular epidemiology and she uses this expertise to support the organisation with incorporation modelling and genomic tools to strengthen data use for decision-making.

Ivan Alejandro Pulido Tarquino

Senior Clinical Trial Manager, Mozambique

Ivan brings over 20 years' experience in public health, particularly in programme management and research of infectious and tropical diseases across Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) countries. He has led operational research, managed clinical trials and emergency response coordination focusing on improving health outcomes.

Jamshed Khan

Country Technical Coordinator, South Sudan

Jamshed is the Country Technical Coordinator for Malaria Consortium in South Sudan where he designs, manages and supervises research activities. He has 20 years’ experience in designing, managing emergency and development programmes in sub-sectors of health including nutrition, malaria and community health.

Jane Achan

Principal Advisor, UK

Jane is a medical doctor and the Principal Advisor at Malaria Consortium where she oversees and supports the organisation's research agenda bringing on board several years of field experience in malaria and child health clinical studies. Her professional interests include evaluation of chemotherapeutic interventions to guide health policy, evaluation of health-related impact of interventions and operational health systems research.

Senior Research Advisor, UK

Kevin is a Senior Research Advisor at Malaria Consortium, focusing on increasing the policy and evidence base on intervention science. He provides technical support and oversight to the design, implementation and evaluation of large scale studies, testing innovative diagnostic tools and algorithms, with specific reference to community-based approaches.

Country Director, Mozambique

Maria has over 20 years' experience managing public health programmes in Mozambique working with different stakeholders including the ministry of health. She has carried out strategy development, capacity strengthening and programme implementation and M&E within several public health areas.

Maria Suau Sans

Research Specialist, UK

Maria has a background in biomedical sciences and holds an MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases. She leads, plans, designs and implementing quantitative and qualitative research projects across various geographies (Malawi, South Sudan, Mozambique), mostly focusing on seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) research activities.

Mercia has served as a Research Coordinator for Malaria Consortium's seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) programme since 2020. She is a sociologist, with a focus on qualitative approaches to make a difference to communities.

Monica Anna de Cola

Results Measurement Analyst, UK

Monica is a PhD candidate working for Malaria Consortium and the Department for Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College. Her research focuses on using routinely collected data to estimate the impact of malaria prevention interventions and using mathematical modelling techniques to better estimate and understand impact in these data sources.

Dr Musa Odongo

Technical Specialist, Uganda

Musa is a Technical Specialist at Malaria Consortium in Uganda and a medical practitioner with over 15 years' experience. His latest research has focused on the introduction and scale-up of Malaria Consortium's seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) programme as an intervention for malaria control in the northeastern Karamoja region of Uganda.

Sola is a public health specialist with a strong base in epidemiology and over 20 years' experience as a medical doctor. As the organisation's Country Technical Coordinator in Nigeria, she provides technical oversight for projects and programmes and support with large-scale surveys, implementation research and other monitoring and impact evaluation surveys.

Country Technical Coordinator, Mozambique

Sonia is the Country Technical Coordinator at Malaria Consortium in Mozambique where she oversees projects, particularly in epidemiology and drug resistance, and expanding her research to HIV and clinical trials. She holds a PhD in Molecular Epidemiology from the University of Copenhagen.

Taiwo Ibinaiye

Data Analysis Specialist, Nigeria

Taiwo is a Data Analysis Specialist at Malaria Consortium in Nigeria. He recently applied mixed-effect negative binomial regression fitted to the number of malaria confirmed cases to measure the impact of seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) in Nigeria and is supporting the organisation to developing robust monitoring plans for quantitative and qualitative data and reporting on key performance indicators for the project.

Christian is the Programme Director of Malaria Consortium’s seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) programme. He is based in London and has led the SMC programme since 2019. Previously, he managed Malaria Consortium’s participation in a research programme consortium that explored health service delivery issues.

James is Malaria Consortium's Chief Executive, a trained medical doctor and malaria public health expert with over 20 years of experience in the fields of epidemiology, infectious and tropical diseases and health system strengthening. He is passionate about, and remains actively involved in, operational research on communicable diseases.

Katherine brings 15 years’ experience in epidemiology to her role as Technical Director of Malaria Consortium. She has led initiatives in diverse health settings including community health programming and supports the organisation to drive key partnerships with international stakeholders and develop policy and implementation recommendations.

Lizzie is a development professional with experience in project management and systems capacity strengthening across the Africa, Asia and Latin America regions. She provides project and grant management support in areas such as Resilience Against Future Threats through Vector Control, seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) and perennial malaria chemoprevention (PMC) within the African region.

As Chair of the Board of Trustees, Wilfred guides the organisation's strategic direction and ensures its mission is carried out effectively. With three decades of experience working in science and research, including serving as Coordinator of the Antimalaria Drug Resistance Network and Founding Executive Secretary of the Multilateral Initiative on Malaria Society (MIM Society), he brings a unique blend of expertise and leadership to Malaria Consortium.
