Insecticide-treated net distribution campaign and evaluation in Nigeria

Published:

Resources: Project brief

Malaria Consortium is expanding equitable access to insecticide-treated nets and strengthening evidence for malaria control in Abia, Borno, Federal Capital Territory and Kogi.

Malaria Consortium is conducting mass insecticide-treated net (ITN) distribution campaigns across four states, using digital tools to track nets, register households and monitor distribution. Alongside this, the project team will generate high-quality longitudinal evidence on ITN access, use and attrition (the decline in the number of functional nets in a household over time).

Seasonal patterns of temperature and rainfall affect the use of insecticide-treated nets to prevent malaria among households who already own a net. Perceived heat and an absence of mosquitoes were among the factors determining net use, according to the results of household surveys carried out throughout the year in Ondo state, Nigeria.
