Strengthening maternal and newborn child health

Resources: Project brief

We aim to improve maternal and child survival in selected districts of Uganda by supporting community health teams to include key maternal, newborn and child health interventions within the scope of integrated community case management.

While newborn mortality rates have fallen in recent decades, they lag behind the gains made for children aged one month to five years, and account for a greater and growing share of all deaths among under-fives.This transition-to-scale project aims to improve maternal and child survival in Gulu, Kole, Nwoya, Omoro and Oyam districts. Malaria Consortium will expand the scope of village health teams, strengthen links between communities and health facilities and promote community engagement with maternal, newborn and child services.

Find out more about our activities, as well as the anticipated outcomes and impact of this project, in the project brief.
