Empowering youth to mobilise their communities in the fight against malaria: Swale’s story

Publication Date:
03/11/2020
Type:
Case study

USAID’s Malaria Action Program for Districts (MAPD) conducted a youth analysis in 2017 to understand factors hindering youth engagement in malaria service provisions and delivery. Findings showed malaria district health teams and health workers rarely report including youth in program planning or implementation. In March 2020, Iyosiga Swale, a youth champion from Odrupi village, Aruguyi parish, was appointed as a new village health team member. He tells his story about continuing to serve his community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
