To take the final steps towards eliminating Plasmodium falciparum in Cambodia and avoid further emergence of artemisinin-resistant mutations, a specific focus on preventing malaria among vulnerable groups is required. This briefing note describes our approach, contributions to and achievements in accelerating malaria elimination in northern Cambodia through early diagnosis and treatment of mobile and migrant populations, in particular in the forested areas bordering Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.
