upSCALE: A digital health system strengthening approach for improved quality of care at community level and for passive case reporting for malaria surveillance

Publication Date:
24/04/2018
Author:
Karin Kallander
Type:
Presentation

To improve the quality of care community health workers (CHWs) in Mozambique provide, Malaria Consortium developed the upSCALE platform in 2013, together with the Ministry of Health and Unicef. The smartphone app supports CHWs’ decision making and enables them to automatically report key indicators, while their supervisors use a tablet-based app to monitor and assess their performance.

This presentation was given as part of a wider symposium on digital health system strengthening for improved malaria case management, surveillance and response at the seventh Multilateral Initiative on Malaria Conference in April 2018 in Dakar, Senegal.
