With training and supportive supervision, low-literate community health workers were mostly able to identify and treat cases of acute malnutrition in under-fives.
This research brief summarises the findings of a pilot study conducted as part of the RISE for Nutrition project. With training and supportive supervision, the study found that low-literate community health workers were generally able to assess, identify, treat and refer severe acute malnutrition among under-fives using a simplified protocol and adapted job aids.
