A four-year gender equality and social inclusion programme has worked with communities to overcome the social stigma that prevents teenagers and young women accessing sexual and reproductive health services
In South Sudan, about 65 percent of women and girls have experienced physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime. Lack of knowledge and social stigma have prevented many young people from accessing sexual and reproductive health services and speaking out about gender-based violence. Malaria Consortium has worked with existing community structures and influential women to increase uptake of sexual and reproductive health services as part of a four-year gender equality and social inclusion programme to increase awareness and support survivors of gender-based violence.
