To enhance caregivers' knowledge of seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) and strengthen their trust in SMC distributors, Malaria Consortium developed a targeted social and behaviour change intervention.

According to an end-of-cycle survey in August 2023, at the beginning of the annual seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) round there was low awareness and some resistance to adopting SMC among caregivers, in part due to misconceptions regarding the effectiveness of sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine plus amodiaquine (SPAQ). We developed a social and behaviour change intervention that was integrated into existing community structures and adapted to a conflict-specific context. Read the presentation to find out more.

This presentation was given at the RBM Partnership to End Malaria SBC Working Group 11th annual meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.
