Through the Breaking Barriers project, we have implemented three innovative community-based interventions to improve access to malaria services for conflict-affected communities in Cameroon.
Cameroon has the 11th highest malaria burden globally, with conflict in the Southwest and Littoral regions severely impacting access to essential health services. The Breaking Barriers project aimed to implement and evaluate scalable, replicable and innovative approaches to improve access to effective malaria case management through community-based services. Regular community meetings were held to improve knowledge of malaria prevention and encourage health-seeking behaviours amond internally displaced people. These community dialogues were run by trained community volunteers using voucher incentives to encourage attendance. Read the presentation to find out the results and key learnings of this project.
This presentation was given at the RBM Partnership to End Malaria SBC Working Group 11th annual meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.
