Dr Anthony Nuwa 

Senior Country Technical Coordinator, Uganda

As Malaria Consortium’s Senior Country Technical Coordinator in Uganda, Anthony provides technical support and leadership to the country programmes. He has over 20 years experience as a medical doctor and expertise in health services research, monitoring and evaluation, and operational research on malaria prevention, diagnostics and case management.

Azuka Iwegbu

Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Nigeria

Azuka joined Malaria Consortium in 2018 and is currently working on the insecticide-treated net (ITN) monitoring and evaluation study, which focuses on the impact of the ITN campaign. Previously, he supported the mass distribution of ITNs, seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), and the co-delivery of SMC and vitamin A supplementation. Azuka is a researcher with 15 years’ experience in public health research and interventions.

Senior Technical Advisor Community Health, UK

Elizabeth Berryman is Senior Technical Advisor for community health systems with Malaria Consortium. Elizabeth was originally a nurse and midwife. She has an MSc in Development Practices. She has worked in global health since 1990, initially in a clinical capacity and then as a technical advisor for Save the Children and MERLIN.

Dr Jane Achan

Principal Advisor, UK

Jane is a medical doctor and Principal Advisor at Malaria Consortium, where she oversees and supports the organisation’s research agenda, having a number of years of field experience in malaria and child health clinical studies. Her professional interests include evaluation of chemotherapeutic interventions to guide health policy, evaluation of health-related impact of interventions, and operational health systems research.

Lisa supports the development of peer-reviewed publications, proposal writing and other technical outputs at Malaria Consortium. She holds an MSc in Environmental Change and International Development and has experience across research, policy and practice from working in academic groups and NGOs.

Lizzie is a development sector project management professional. She manages a number of global projects at Malaria Consortium, including Resilience Against Future Threats through Vector Control and the RBM Surveillance Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group Surveillance Practice and Data Quality Committee.

Dr Margaret Ebob Besem

Operational Research Specialist, Cameroon

Margaret Ebob Besem is an Operational Research Specialist, working on the Breaking Barriers research project in conflict-afflicted settings in Cameroon since 2021. She has a PhD in Public Health and seven years experience as an epidemiologist and public health researcher. She has previously worked with UNOCHA and Médecins Sans Frontières.

Results Measurement Analyst, UK

Monica is a Results Measurement Analyst at Malaria Consortium and a PhD candidate at the Department for Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College. Her research focuses on using routinely collected data to estimate the impact of malaria prevention interventions and using mathematical modelling techniques to better estimate and understand impact in these data sources.

Neide is a Senior Research Coordinator at Malaria Consortium in Mozambique. She has a masters in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town and supports the organisation to coordinate research activities in Mozambique.

Dr Poe Poe Aung

Technical Specialist, Thailand

Poe Poe is a public health research scientist with a background in medicine. She works on infectious diseases including malaria, dengue, HIV, tuberculosis, sexual and reproductive health, and water, sanitation and hygiene. She has provided technical assistance to programmes in Asia and Africa and is contributing to global projects, including the Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network Vector Control Working Group, and Resilience Against Future Threats through Vector Control.

Tarekegn is a medical entomologist and epidemiologist with a special interest in vector control, epidemic early warning and disease surveillance. He has worked in malaria and other vector-borne disease control for 38 years in several African countries, combining experience in management, programme implementation and scientific research. He is currently coordinating vector control programmes and research on malaria epidemiology and control, and early warning of outbreaks of mosquito-borne diseases.

Tedila provides technical leadership and support to all projects within Malaria Consortium Ethiopia. He has over 15 years’ experience on malaria prevention and control, neglected tropical diseases and operational research.

Bronwen works from the UK office supporting projects across South Sudan and Nigeria, as well as a variety of work related to seasonal malaria chemoprevention. Bronwen has an MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics, where she specialised in conflict and rights across East Africa and Latin America.

Christian is the Director of Malaria Consortium’s seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) programme. He is based in London and has led the SMC programme since 2019. Previously, he managed Malaria Consortium’s participation in a research programme consortium that explored health service delivery issues.
