Established in 2003, Malaria Consortium is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations specialising in the prevention, control and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases among vulnerable populations. Our mission is to save lives and improve health in Africa and Asia, through evidence-based programmes that combat targeted diseases and promote universal health coverage. Malaria Consortium’s Head Office is based in London, UK.
Malaria Consortium's Strategy 2021-2025 is driven by our vision of a world progressing towards Universal Health Coverage, with a marked and sustained reduction in malaria and other communicable diseases. We will invest our efforts in accelerating the reduction in the burden of these diseases, supporting health systems to be more responsive and resilient, strengthening data-informed decision-making, and using our expertise and learnings to influence policy and practice.
We are dedicated to ensuring our work is supported by strong evidence and remains grounded in the lessons we learn through implementation. We explore beyond current practice, to try out innovative ways – through research, implementation and policy development – to achieve effective and sustainable disease management and control. We have pioneered best practices and approaches, setting the standards that others now follow. In 2021, we were also awarded Independent Research Organisation status by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) – one of only a few international non-governmental organisations to hold this status in the UK.
With over 95 percent of our staff national to the malaria endemic countries in which we work, we currently have programmes and projects across Africa and Asia Pacific. Find out more about where we work.
Our local insight, embedded technical expertise and practical skills give us the agility to respond to critical challenges quickly and effectively.
Our unique structure and robust approach to tackling malaria and other diseases enable us to deliver among the most cost-effective public health programmes, even in complex and challenging environments. Collaboration and cooperation with others through our work is fundamental to our approach and we are proud to work closely with communities, governments, academic institutions, and local and international organisations.
Our Africa Regional Office, based in Kampala, Uganda, provides support to Malaria Consortium’s country offices in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Sudan, Uganda, Togo and Chad.
Our Asia Regional Office, based in Bangkok, Thailand, provides support to Malaria Consortium’s country offices in Cambodia and Myanmar.
