“It is such a privilege to join Malaria Consortium to follow in Stephen O’Brien’s footsteps where so much that has been achieved in such a short space of time,” said Dr Lob-Levyt. “Malaria Consortium is an astonishing organisation, with high quality technical expertise that has made a tremendous difference. It has a great future and a terrific amount to offer. It will be a great challenge.”
Dr Lob-Levyt has been involved in development issues for almost three decades, beginning his career with the World Health Organisation and the European Commission, with long-term overseas postings in Zimbabwe, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and the Solomon Islands.
More recently, Dr Lob-Levyt served as Senior Policy Adviser to the UNAIDS Executive Director and worked for five years with the UK Department for International Development as Chief Human Development Adviser and then Chief Health and Population Adviser. In 2005, he joined the Switzerland-based GAVI Alliance, a public-private global health partnership created in 2000 to increase access to immunisation for children in the world’s poorest countries.
This year saw Dr Lob-Levyt return to the UK to take up the post of Senior Vice President of DAI and Managing Director of DAI Europe, a company which provides international development and transition consulting services to bilateral and multilateral donors, governments, and private sector clients throughout the world.
