Payroll giving for employers

Offering payroll giving as part of your employee benefits package can help you meet your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives while attracting and retaining socially conscious staff. It’s a simple, impactful way to support the causes your employees care about — benefitting both them and charities, like us, they choose to support.

You can add Malaria Consortium to your list of charities that your employees are able to donate to from their salary and promote Malaria Consortium through your internal communication channels.

Follow these simple steps:

  • Partner with a payroll giving agency

Who will support you to put the scheme in place and administration to get your employees set up and giving.

  • Set up the scheme

Set up your scheme internally allowing your employees to sign up and choose their donation amount and preferred charity. You can add Malaria Consortium to your list of charities that your employees are able to donate to from their salary.

  • Internal comms

Promote Malaria Consortium through your internal communication channels.

  • Deductions from gross salary

Your employee’s donations are deducted from their gross salary before tax, meaning they receive tax relief on their donations.

  • Agency transfer

You will be required to send the deductions to the payroll giving agency (PGA), who then transfers the funds to the designated charities.

  • Tax relief

The PGA ensures the donations are tax efficient for both your employees and the charities that they have chosen to donate to.

  • Benefits for employers

Payroll giving enhances employee engagement, strengthens a company’s CSR profile, and can be a recruitment and retention tool.

  • Quality mark

Businesses with payroll giving schemes can apply for the Payroll Giving Quality Mark, which will demonstrate your commitment to the scheme.

Matched funding for employers

You can introduce workplace giving and matching. The easiest way to do this is by signing up to an agency, such as Benevity and the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) who offer ways for your staff to support causes of their choice, including Malaria Consortium. Both Benevity and CAF’s employee engagement solutions will allow your employees to create their own giving opportunities. If based in Canada, your employee’s can make a tax-deductible donation to our seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) programme, without paying fees, by donating through RC Forward.
