Malaria Consortium supported Burkina Faso’s National Malaria Control Program scale up access to seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) under the UNITAID funded ACCESS-SMC project. In 2017, over 3.9 million children were reached.
SMC is a treatment course of antimalarial medicines that prevent malaria in children under five (3-59 months) during the rainy season, when cases of malaria are highest.
Click on the photos below to learn about SMC and follow community health workers as they work to protect children in the villages of Zorgho and Ziniare from malaria.
