Joint International Tropical Medicine Meeting 2015 (JITMM 2015)

Joint International Tropical Medicine Meeting 2015 (JITMM 2015)

Date and time: 1:00am on 2 December 2015

Joint International Tropical Medicine Meeting 2015 (JITMM 2015) is Southeast Asia’s pre-eminent tropical-medicine conference. Each year, the Faculty of Tropical Medicine (TropMed), Mahidol University, Thailand and its co-organizers host this event, giving researchers, policy makers, doctors, scientists, public-health professionals, and students the opportunity to meet, learn from one another, and share their work with each other, for the better health of peoples living in, and traveling through, the Tropics.

The theme for this year’s meeting is Tropical Diseases Post 2015: New Threats or Towards Sustainable Success, and refers to the new chapter in which we find ourselves as we reach the end of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG). To date, we have significantly reduced the impact of the most deadly tropical diseases, and overall people are healthier than ever before. However, more than 1.4 billion people are still at risk of many tropical diseases. New and re-emerging threats and risk factors, such as drug resistance, climate change/global warming, the expansion of vector habitats, and increased global and regional travel, pose challenges we must address to achieve sustainable success in the post-2015 environment.
