The latest updates from our work on preventing, controlling and treating malaria and other communicable diseases
New seasonal malaria chemoprevention campaign begins in the Sahel
Over the next four months, the campaign will distribute preventive antimalarial medication to more than 5.5 million children under five years of age in Burkina Faso, Chad and Nigeria, protecting them from malaria throughout the rainy season. The intervention is 'top-rated' by GiveWell for its effectiveness.
WATCH: Communities come together to push back against antimicrobial resistance in Bangladesh
The misuse of antibiotics in recent years has led to many strains of bacteria becoming resistant to this type of medicine. In Bangladesh, we carried out a pilot to see how communities could be supported to take action against this issue collectively. The Community Dialogue Approach is explained in this new film.
Our latest photo story follows a day with Madinah, an expectant mother in Uganda who is benefitting from services provided by Malaria Consortium via USAID's Malaria Action Program for Districts.
WATCH: How we're helping to strengthen Uganda's response to malaria
We're working with Uganda's Ministry of Health to support efforts to reduce malaria-related morbidity and mortality in 25 districts. Watch our latest film about the project.
Breaking down barriers for health workers in Nigeria
For health workers in parts of Nigeria, low literacy is a barrier to the provision of services to communities. By piloting tools that use colours and symbols, health workers with low literacy were able to better diagnose and treat malnutrition.
With your support, we can help more mothers and children in vulnerable communities around the world to fight malaria and other diseases through better prevention, diagnostics and treatment.
We've partnered with a number of organisations around the world to make supporting Malaria Consortium as easy as possible. Click the button below for more information.
