Donation FAQs

  • Can I restrict my donation to support a particular project or country?

Unrestricted funding allows Malaria Consortium to react and respond rapidly to challenges like COVID-19 by conducting research or programming to inform and complement the most urgent priorities and needs. It is currently only possible to restrict your donation to programmes that are recognised by GiveWell, though we hope to expand this in the future. You can choose to restrict your donation through our donation form.

  • What is Gift Aid and am I eligible?

Gift Aid is a mechanism by which charities in the UK can claim more from a donation by recovering the basic tax rate (25 percent) on donations made at no extra cost to the individual who is giving. This helps organisations like Malaria Consortium to maximise the value of its donations. Only UK residents are eligible to claim Gift Aid and you can do this via our donation form.

  • Can I donate specific items like mosquito nets?

We are unfortunately unable to accept donations of specific items such as mosquito nets. Our Operations Team is responsible for sourcing and sending items to the countries where they are needed in the most cost-effective way possible.

  • Which is better, a large single donation or a regular donation?

Both single gifts and regular giving are extremely valuable and we are grateful that you choose to support us by any means. However, choosing to give regularly allows us to have a clearer idea of the income we expect to receive each year which helps us to plan new programmes, research projects and buy supplies and equipment to help countries to achieve lasting change. You can set up a regular donation online.

  • How can I change my payment details?

We don’t currently have the ability for our donors to change their bank details directly, though we’re working on setting up this functionality. If you would like to update your bank account details, you will need to set up a new regular donation with us. Please let us know by emailing [email protected] so that we can cancel your existing regular donation on our system. Please do not share bank details by email.

  • Can Malaria Consortium refund my donation?

Donations are typically non-refundable due to tax implications for us and/or donors. However, in some circumstances, our Board of Trustees can consider deciding to refund a donation made to Malaria Consortium that is in the best interests of the charity. Please contact [email protected] to find out more.

  • How can I change the way Malaria Consortium contacts me?

The money you donate helps us to further our mission and purpose, so we want to keep you informed about the impact you are having. If you would like to change the way that we contact you or opt out of receiving updates from us, please contact [email protected].
