A resistência antimicrobiana — quando os microorganismos sofrem mutações e desenvolvem a capacidade de suportar os efeitos dos medicamentos concebidos para matá-los — provoca, pelo menos, 700.000 mortes a nível mundial, todos os anos. Se não forem tomadas medidas urgentes, milhões de vidas estarão em risco e as economias irão sofrer.
