We engage with global and UK focussed advocacy groups to ensure that malaria and other communicable diseases remain high on the agenda.
As members of the RBM Partnership to End Malaria, we participate in numerous technical working groups as well as partnership committees focusing on strategic communications and advocacy and resource mobilisation.
We work closely with the World Health Organization and are a member of WHO Global Malaria Programme’s Technical Expert Group on Surveillance, Monitoring and Evaluation. Through this, we have contributed to developing malaria elimination indicators for a new WHO field manual. Our technical specialists belong to the WHO Drug Resistance Containment Technical Expert Group, which guides global strategies on tackling the threat of artemisinin resistance. We also frequently contribute to and review various WHO publications, including the annual World Malaria Report.
In the UK, we are a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Malaria and NTDs, where we present our work to parliamentarians and colleagues in the sector to share knowledge and foster parliamentary champions for these diseases. We also contribute evidence to relevant International Development enquiries, brief parliamentarians on debates, facilitate field visits for parliamentarians and host roundtables on topics that we urge parliamentarians and key decision-makers to advocate for.
