Malaria Consortium to host debate on EU response to global threat of malaria drug resistance

14 April 2015

On the occasion of World Malaria Day 2015 (commemorated annually on 25 April), Malaria Consortium, in partnership with the Roll Back Malaria Partnership and PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative, will be hosting a panel discussion in Brussels on the 20th April.

At the event, key speakers from the international development sector and European policy makers will assess the progress made in the fight against malaria, and discuss the threat posed by the spread of drug resistant malaria in Southeast Asia.

At what is a pivotal moment in history, when the UN’s Millennium Development Goals are about to expire, the panellists will discuss how to sustain efforts and maintain the progress made in the fight against malaria, how to prevent the spread of drug resistant malaria,  and the role that the EU can play in ensuring it does not reach Africa where the impact would be devastating.

After the panel discussion, participants are invited for a reception and networking.
