Malaria Consortium have indicated their support to protect development and humanitarian aid in the EU Budget negotiations for the period up to 2020 by signing a letter to Prime Minister David Cameron. The letter also had the support of 25 other leading development agencies.
Following a failed summit in November on this issue, heads of state are meeting again this week to attempt to reach a deal. There is a possibility that EU development and humanitarian aid will be targeted for cuts at the summit, despite the fact that it represents a relatively small part of the overall Budget and that it means the difference between life and death for vulnerable people worldwide. The Bond joint letter follows a previous one sent to the Prime Minister in November, also signed by 25 agencies.
