Film: Expanding the role of Malaria Volunteers to tackle childhood illnesses in rural Myanmar

In remote communities in Myanmar, where there are no government health staff, Malaria Consortium retrained existing malaria volunteers in iCCM to deliver essential healthcare to children under five in their communities. The project has impacted almost 100 communities and helped treat communicable diseases and improve healthcare in hard-to-reach areas.

Remote, rural populations in Myanmar receive improved healthcare

Siddhi Aryal, Malaria Consortium Asia Director says, “iCCM has the potential to become a feasible and effective strategy for extending Myanmar’s health services to remote communities and improving the health of these communities in line with the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. This new project will inform policy decision on integrated community case management implementation in Myanmar.”
