Inhambane province district of Inharrime

Geographic Location
The district of Inharrime is situated on the southern Inhambane province, Mozambique. Its seat is the village of Inharrime. The district has geographical boundaries with the northern districts of Jangamo, HomoÍne and Panda, east to the Indian Ocean and South and West with the Zavala district.

Area and Population
Inharrime district has an area of 2149 square kilometers and a population of 97.471, according to preliminary results of the 2007 Census, resulting in a population density of 45.4 inhabitants / km².

Sources of Income
Agriculture is the dominant activity and involves the majority of local households. The main food crops of the family sector are maize, cassava, peanuts and beans. The most important livestock in the district, for the consumption of households are chickens, ducks, goats and pigs, the latter are also marketed.

Health
In terms of health infrastructures, the Inharrime district has seven health facilities, of the 103 existing health facilities throughout the province. In general, there are 0.58 beds per 1000 inhabitants. There are 34 beds in both adult and paedriatic wards and 25 beds in maternity wards. In 2010, the case fatality rate due to malaria in paedriatic wards was 2.1%.

In Inharrime district there are 5 APE, of which four are under supervision of CS Inharrime (Inharrime health center), and one is under the supervision of CS Chongola.

Education
In terms of infrastructure by the year 2008, the district of Inharrime had a total of 74 schools of which 71 are primary schools in grades I and II, two secondary and a technical professional. The total number of students is 27.771 for 3393 and primary levels to secondary school. The illiteracy rate is 89.4%.
