Networks and coalitions

We believe that civil society is most effective when it works together and speaks with a united voice, and therefore our partners, networks and coalitions are central to our advocacy. In addition to Malaria Consortium’s engagement at a country level with national advocacy networks and civil society groups, we are currently involved with the following European and global advocacy platforms:

Roll Back Malaria Partnership (RBM)

The Roll Back Malaria Partnership is the global platform for coordinated action against malaria – mobilising resources and inspiring action to defeat malaria. Malaria Consortium is founding member and active contributor of the Partnership, which comprises of more than 500 members from malaria endemic countries, international donors and foundations, the private sector, nongovernmental and community-based organisations, and research and academic institutions.

UK All-Party Parliamentary Group for Malaria & Neglected Tropical Diseases (APPMG)

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases provides a forum for sharing learning to inform parliamentarians about the key issues in the fight against malaria and NTDs.  Malaria Consortium staff are regularly contributors to these meetings. A record of their presentations can be found on the Group website here.

Action for Global Health (AFGH)

Action for Global Health (AfGH) is a leading network of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) advocating towards European decision-makers to increase their support for fair access to healthcare, and fully-funded, strong health systems, which are accountable and responsive to the needs of vulnerable and impoverished populations.

As an active member of the Action for Global Health UK network, Malaria Consortium contributes to advocacy efforts to sustain the UK’s strong commitment to global health and promote an integrated, cross-government and inclusive approach to health.

UK Coalition Against NTDs

The UK Coalition against Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) is a collaborative partnership between UK organisations actively engaged in the implementation, capacity building and research of neglected tropical disease control at scale.

This collective approach is vital in the support of long term sustainable control and elimination of NTDs and ensuring that they are integrated within national, regional and international health development frameworks.

BOND

Malaria Consortium is an active member of BOND, the UK membership body for organisations working in international development. We engage through several working groups to advocate on development issues nationally and globally.

UK Malaria Advocates

The UK Malaria Advocates is a collaborative partnership between organisations actively engaged in malaria advocacy in the UK. We work to ensure continued UK leadership of, and commitment to, the fight against malaria.  In addition to Malaria Consortium, the group includes Malaria No More UK, PATH MVI, Medicines for Malaria Venture, Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics, and Innovative Vector Control Consortium.

Break Dengue

Break Dengue is a non-profit platform that aims to connect different initiatives around the world that are addressing the issue of dengue so that together they can have a bigger impact.

Break Dengue is an open platform to all: scientists, health-care providers, patients and relatives, journalists, industry and anyone concerned about the problem of dengue. Their work focuses on combating the disease, uncovering success stories to prevent and protect dengue around the globe, and bringing patients closer to potential treatments and effective prevention strategies.

The NTD NDGO Network (NNN)

The NTD NGO Network is a global forum for NGOs to contribute to the global control, elimination, and management of consequences of NTDs, outlined within the internationally agreed World Health Organisation NTD Roadmap. The NNN’s objectives are to be the unified NGO voice on common NTD issues, and to enhance NTD communities of practice through membership engagement, learning and sharing knowledge.

Every Woman, Every Child (EWEC)

Every Woman Every Child is a global movement to mobilise and intensify international and national action to address the major health challenges facing women, children and adolescents around the world. The movement puts into action the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health, which presents a roadmap to ending all preventable deaths of women, children and adolescents within a generation and ensuring their well-being.

Fight the Fakes

Malaria Consortium is a member of the Fight the Fakes campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the dangers of fake medicines – both to individuals and to global efforts to combat disease, due to growing drug resistance. The campaign gives a voice to those who have been personally impacted by counterfeit medicines, and shares the stories of those working to put a stop to this threat to public health.
