International Aid Transparency Initiative

Aid transparency

Malaria Consortium is committed to making its projects and funding transparent. As a result, we have signed up to the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) in support of clear, open and accessible information about what happens to development aid. As part of this, we have launched a project database that details our individual projects as well as our funding and funding sources, on our website.

What is IATI?
The International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) was launched in September 2008 at the high level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Accra. Its intention is to increase the transparency of aid information to maximise the effectiveness of aid in reducing poverty. IATI aims to make more information about aid available more readily and ensure that information from a variety of different sources easier to find, use and compare.

Why is it important?
Developing countries face huge challenges in accessing up-to-date information about aid – information that they need to plan and manage those resources effectively. Similarly, citizens in both developing and donor countries lack the information they need to hold their governments to account for use of those resources. IATI aims to address this by making information about aid spending easier to access, use and understand. IATI is a voluntary initiative where donors, governments and agencies receiving aid publish how aid is being spent using a standard format that allows data to be extracted and compared.

How is Malaria Consortium involved?
Malaria Consortium is committed to publishing information about its programmes including the amount of funding being spent in different countries. Information can be found on the IATI Registry as well as in the project database on our website which you can find below.
