The TEAMS project in Myanmar helps to strengthen surveillance and monitoring and evaluation systems to meet its objectives towards malaria elimination. After developing a new malaria surveillance tool with the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) and its successful pilot in 2015, Malaria Consortium rolled out the new database, platformed on a Microsoft ACCESS relational database, in 164 townships in Myanmar.
This surveillance database has been widely accepted by communities and is well-suited for recording patient-level data. Its cloud-based setup enabes national, sub-national and township level data-sharing, and ensures security through simultaneously backing up and syncronising data at all levels.
