Name: James Tibenderana
Position: Director Case Management
Email address: j.tibenderana@malariaconsortium.org
What is your relevant experience?
I supported from 2005-2007 the change of malaria treatment policy in Uganda to artemisinin-based combination therapy. I am working with the Ministry of Health (MoH) to set up a national malaria research centre.
Why are you passionate about tackling malaria?
It is a treatable and preventable disease causing undue illness and death among children that are powerless to do anything against malaria. Many parents lack adequate knowledge to prevent and control the disease and even when they do are faced with a variety of obstacles that stop them from taking the right actions. This I find unfair.
What is special to you about the Malaria Consortium?
It is an organisation that is genuinely committed to tackling the burden of communicable diseases. The staff work round the clock to make a difference and strive for technical excellence.
