NEWS - Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Thailand and Malaria Consortium sign long-term agreement

17 February 2009
The Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University (“Asia’s Leader in Tropical Medicine”), was founded in 1960, and is thus now approaching its 50th Anniversary. It is now firmly established as the hub for tropical-medicine post-graduate education, basic and clinical research, and medical services for the Asian region.

The Malaria Consortium (MC) is an international non-governmental organisation dedicated to improving the delivery of prevention and treatment to combat malaria and other communicable diseases in Africa and Asia, ensuring good evidence supports decision-making and delivery of effective services.

The Dean of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Dr. Pratap Singhasivanon, said he warmly welcomes this collaboration with the Malaria Consortium to enhance education, academic research, and technical support to countries in the Region, and to promote the synergy of the two organisations’ experiences in Asia and Africa. The shared aims include exchange of information through engagement in joint research activities, symposia and sharing of research information, exchange of expertise through collaborative projects, and health human-resource capacity-building through collaborative training initiatives and programmes.
