GB-CHC-1099776-D3Malaria ConsortiumOperational Research for the Implementation of Malaria prevention and Control activities in Oromia Regional Estate, EthiopiaWith support from the President's Malaria Initiative, Malaria Consortium is running three operational research studies in Ethiopia, in partnership with Oromia and SNNP Regional Health Bureaus, the Ethiopian Health and Nutrition Research Institute and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, including: a retrospective analysis of malaria at health facilities in Oromia Regional State, evaluating changes in the number of cases of malaria seen at health facilities over a five year period, to understand the impact that scale up of malaria prevention and control has had on the burden of malaria in Ethiopia. A pilot study looking at the feasibility of school-based surveillance of malaria in Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Regional State. The aim of this study is to explore new ways to identify possible malaria epidemics, particularly looking at simple indicators measured at schools. A study of spatial epidemiology of malaria in Oromia Regional State. This study has been designed to support Regional Health Bureaus in monitoring changes in malaria transmission, and targeting resources to areas in greatest need. The study combines a test of people's recent exposure to malaria with information about the environment to predict at large scale where transmission is likely to occur.Malaria ConsortiumUSAIDMalaria ConsortiumMalaria Consortiumiati@malariaconsortium.orgThe Green House, 244-254 Cambridge Heath Road, London, E2 9DA, United KingdomMalaria control15750001298777USAID777330USAID302215USAID244251USAID489578USAID440706USAID2044963USAID7908008USAID2055410USAID2204435USAID1237262USAID1401227USAID1150769USAID578376USAID1070363USAID417020USAID1575000USAIDGB-CHC-1099776-D3-ETMalaria ConsortiumOperational Research for the Implementation of Malaria prevention and Control activities in Oromia Regional Estate, Ethiopia [Ethiopia]With support from the President's Malaria Initiative, Malaria Consortium is running three operational research studies in Ethiopia, in partnership with Oromia and SNNP Regional Health Bureaus, the Ethiopian Health and Nutrition Research Institute and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, including: a retrospective analysis of malaria at health facilities in Oromia Regional State, evaluating changes in the number of cases of malaria seen at health facilities over a five year period, to understand the impact that scale up of malaria prevention and control has had on the burden of malaria in Ethiopia.
